We have put together a short survey to capture your feedback in terms of what BT can do when you experience home Wi-Fi issues. We would appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to complete a short survey. Read more from here, Fix my home Wi-Fi
I am a new BT customer and have recently moved into a new house and I'm not particularly happy with the internet speed.
Over on the TalkTalk forums, the moderators were able to change something called a "line profile" to adjust the balance between speed and stability.
Is this something that BT can do too?
the mods are able to change latency from fast to interleaved or vice versa fast being chosen latency for gamers but may make conenction less stable
if you have a hh4 go to hub manager then troubleshooting then helpdesk and post stats
enter phone number and post results remember to delete number https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
Are they the only two options, fast and interleaved?
Attached below are the screenshots of the info requested.
Could you explain to me the products in the brown table?
Thanks for your super quick reply!
BT BROADBAND AVAILABILITY CHECKER
HOME HUB 4 HELPDESK
FTTC is fibre to the cabinet and that is scheduled to be avialable in October as cabinet requires a capacity increase but possible speed is bewteen 13.5/20mb whereas your existing conenction on adsl2 has estimate of up to 17mb
are you conencted to the test socket? if not can you connect to test socket with a new filter
try quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 should be quiet and best with corded phone
if using a hub 4 locate these lines located in the hub logs
Lines should look like this
19:11:29, 07 Nov. (2290101.460000) DSL noise margin: 7.00 dB upstream, 6.10 dB downstream
19:11:29, 07 Nov. (2290101.390000) DSL line rate: 448 Kbps upstream, 288 Kbps downstream
Thanks for the explanation, makes sense now!
So considering I am getting 2-4Mb you can see why I'm not very satisfied!
I am now connected to the test socket with the second filter that came with the hub.
BT speed test results:
Unfortunately I don't have a landline phone to test with at the moment. Once I find one I will post the results here.
I'm in bthomehub.home -> Troubleshooting -> Event Log.
Which category would the DSL noise margin and line rate be under?
Yes of course. I presume BT will provide the option to upgrade (for extra fees) once it is available if we so wished?
you should see the 2 lines when hub last conencted to the internet if your line is stable then check internet connection time as that will tell you where to look
18:11:10, 17 Sep. (67574.810000) DSL noise margin: 5.90 dB upstream, 3.20 dB downstream
18:11:09, 17 Sep. (67573.880000) DSL line rate: 678 Kbps upstream, 4056 Kbps downstream
If you are connected to the test socket then are all your other sockets 'dead'? Your connection speed is well below your estimate from dslchecker so what estimate did you get when you joined BT
looks like you need to phone customer services and get engineer visit as your connection is well below estimate
If I remember correctly, I was told we'd get between 3 and 9Mb.
Half the time it is below 3Mb.
I shall call customer service and see what they can do.
Is it worth switching to fast latency and trying that first?
