Clarification of settings when using SonicWall for Infinity

Hello,

I want to connect SonicWall to my wall internet socket just to add a little bit more security to the link. The problem I am experiencing is that the device doesn't even recognize the connection. I talked to customer support and they told me that I need to input the username and password for the broadband line. Problem is, I don't seem to find anything of the sort.

Do I need a separate modem or sth of the sort in order to make that work?

Thank you in advance.

Had a quick look and it seems they are just routers so you will likely need a separate modem.  DrayTek Vigor 130 or Netgear DM200.  Unless, of course, the SonicWall device you bought states that it has a built in ADSL/VDSL modem.

Perhaps you can post the model number of the device you bought for clarification.

Thanks a lot. The SonicWall is a TZ300. I don't think it has an integrated modem so thank you for the recommendations on a model. I do have my username and password so hopefully that will work.

Thanks again.

As you suspect no built in modem.  I can personally recommend the DrayTek.  Not cheap but I found it to be most reliable, never missed a beat.
