Coincidence or line fault?

I have two seperate lines coming into this house

1. My main line, for internet use and is fibre optic

2. My elderly mothers line which is a standard phone line

Last weekend I invested in a BT8600 with call blocking for myself, this I installed and enabled Caller ID which started on Tuesday and has so far worked exactly as described and Im happy with the phone.

But, also from Tuesday my mothers phone doesn't ring as it use to. Insted of ring ... ring it is now one continuous ring. The line still works as expected apart from how the phone rings. This happens the same on two identical phones plugged into the same line so can eliminate the phone I believe.

I have tried it in the test socket behind the main panel with still the same result.

My question would be is this a coincidence it happening when caller ID was enabled on my line and just a fault on her line?

Re: Coincidence or line fault?

Hi @godmcgarvey,

It sounds more like a coincidence but I never like to rule anything out. Have you raised a fault on it yet? Do you have any other telephone handsets that you could test this with?

Thanks

Re: Coincidence or line fault?

Three different phones have been tried on the line (all the same type)

Re: Coincidence or line fault?

It's best that you reported a fault so we can get it looked into.

Report a fault

If you need mod help afterwards, come back and let me know.

Thanks
