Community Shield - no HDR?

According to all of the advertising in the build-up to today’s Community Shield, HDR was heavily noted as being available.

Can anybody confirm if they’ve managed to find a HDR stream from BT? I’ve looked online and everybody appears to be in the same situation as me and not getting any HDR picture.

Also, is HDR available to Virgin via BT Sport Ultimate because that is not in HDR either.

Why advertise HDR for the match if it’s not going to be offered in said format??

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

No HDR for me on any of the following:

4k set top box (knew it wasn’t capable already)

xbox one x bt sport app (not even 4K)

samsung tv bt sport app (not even 4K)

a joke! Can someone from BT confirm what’s happened? Do we need to

do something ready for the premier league next week? Was it a mistake today?

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

I saw lots of ads for HDR etc. - but none of those I saw mentioned any specific programmes.

All the releases from BT only say Champions League Football.

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

Well you didn’t look very hard because it’s been advertised everywhere as launching today with the Community Shield.

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

I called BT Sport help during the game and the gent on the line said if it was in HDR it would have displayed, so the fact i couldn't see it in HDR meant it was not being broadcast in HDR.

Obviously they had a few issues with the HDR today... fingers crossed they get it running soon. Want to compare against the 4k pic!

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

I’ve seen other posts online also saying they called for confirmation and were told no HDR available.

Ive seen one series of tweets from the BT Twitter account basically telling the customer that it’s likely their equipment because they weren’t getting HDR through the BT TV box Ultimate channel.

Along with further HDR tests, I suggest they train their staff in the differences between UHD SDR and HDR because some people would take their tweets as gospel and it’s just not true at all.

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

I understand mistakes happen and things don’t always go to plan but would it not be better to issue a brief tweet or anything publicly to confirm no HDR today? Makes the whole thing look incredibly amateurish, generating more calls to an already high volume contact centre etc... can understand why they rate so badly in Ofcom complaints data.

Re: Community Shield - no HDR?

There will be no 4K HDR on any device till later in the year (BT4K STB will never have HDR as this box is not capable, Large screen devices such as Apple TV4K, Samsung Smart TV, Xbox X etc will get it but not ready yet).

Small screen devices should get HD HDR (showing as BT Ultimate channel in the App with HDR in the tile on the title screen). There is an issue with the Apple TV BT Sport app as it doesn't switch automatically like it should so they tell you to set the output in the settings to 1080p HDR 50Hz, which you shouldn't have to do with frame matching on. Can anyone confirm they couldn't get HD HDR on a small screen device via the app for the community shield.

BT4K STBox got UHD, SDR and Dolby Atmos as expected.
