@Bumtious I wasn't suggesting you were having a go. Sorry if I worded that badly. It was a general statement directed at myself as much as anyone else.
@Bumtious @zulu17 That's encouraging news this morning re HDR. My wish now is it comes to the Roku Stick+ which does HDR. I'm hoping I won't need to replace it with the Apple4K device. I'm only interested in HDR on the big screen, and only if it's full 4k hdr. I'm not interested in the inferior 1080p hdr.
Hi robotman - I have said previously on these forums this week that we experienced issues with HDR last weekend and that 4K is not being delivered on our apps just yet.
BT Sport Ultimate is a superior experience to HD on the TV box (because it's 4K) and superior to HD on our app platforms (excl. Xbox and Playstation at the moment) because it delivers HDR.
If we waited to deliver full 4K HDR together then the HDR experience would have been delayed until 4K is ready - hence why we have launched HDR asap so customers get an improved experience. We continue to work on 4K and when it's ready will go live. In the meantime we hope you enjoy an improved experience whether on the TV box with 4K or on our apps with HDR.
Some of the press articles have been misleading and some of our call centre colleagues relaying incorrect info, so sorry about that. Please bear with us as roll out this new technology with our customer experience in mind!
Enjoy the game today!
To clarify - coverage across the board for Premier League is HD HDR and not UHD HDR? Is that correct?
I thought it was said that the uhd by box wasn't capable of delivering 4K HDR?
Without sounding thick- am I correct in thinking BT Sport Ultimate on the BT UHD box is now 4K HDR??
Or in a nutshell where can I watch 4k HDR on BT Sport Ultimate? The phone?
Thanks
@Anonymous
I would like to thank you for your candour.
You have been a lone voice of truth amongst all the misleading and incorrect information.
Im sure you can understand people’s scepticism and frustration.
Again many thanks for you correct and patient responses.
On your TV box it is 4K SDR
iOS, Android, Samsung TV, and Apple TV is HD HDR
Playstation and Xbox is HD SDR
We're working on these but didn't want to with hold the improved picture for customers using the other platforms.
Let me know if any questions!
Hi DirectorScarf - we aren't delivering 4K HDR on any platforms yet.
HD HDR on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Samsung TV
4K SDR on TV box
HD SDR on Xbox and Playstation.
We're working on adding 4K on suitable platforms and HDR we hope will come with the new TV box coming next year.
Enjoy the game!
No problem! Totally get the frustration at lack of clear messaging in the press and from BT comms channels. Hope you are now enjoying a good picture. Feedback welcome.
HDR is launched on iOS, Android, Apple TV, and Samsung TV. We had some issues last week where some customers weren't receiving the correct stream but hopefully those are fixed this time around!
Enjoy!
Hi 051 - sorry for the lack of clarity in the messaging. With all the different platforms we offer the channel on I agree it's a bit complicated!
To be clear - the UHD/4K channel is indeed available on the BT TV box. But this isn't HDR yet.
We have launched HDR on multiple platforms (although not all yet) to improve the customer experience. Last year our 4K customer base would still see the standard stream on our apps. But today they see a superior picture (HDR) so we're hoping they're pleased about that!
In terms of not launching 4K HDR together - if we'd done that then we would have had to delay the launch of HDR until 4K was ready. We wanted to deliver a better experience to our customers as soon as possible (ie. HDR) and hence why we haven't gone with 4k HDR yet. However, we're working on it!
So for clarity - you can get 4K on your TV box, as before. HD HDR has been launched on iOS, Android, Apple TV, and Samsung TV's.
Any other questions just shout.
PS. When our good friends at Sky do finally catch up with us on picture quality, let me know 🙂
