I would like to connect my Brother USB printer to the USB port of the Smart Hub2. I have been told that the Hub IP address changes all the time, so how do I setup the printer IP address to be connected everytime?
I have also read online that the BT Hubs can be set in the hub manager to be a print server. Is that true?
Any help and guidance would be appreciated.
The hub Public IP address changes all the time, not the private LAN address which is always 192.168.1.254
There is no facility on the hub to use it as a print server.
Thanks for your reply.
So it is possible to connect my printer to the hub via USB? Will tge printer become a Network printer for all my devices?
I read Google that there is a settings menu on the hub manager once the printer is recognised by the hub after USB connection, to set the hub as a print server. So that is wrong?
I have not tried it, but would be very surprised if you can connect a printer to the hub as a network printer.
There are certainly no settings in the hub to use it as a print server.
Ok thanks.
Will have to try it for myself and see.
I think that is probably the only way to find out for certain. Please report back findings.
I've had a quick Google and found some references that date back to 2006 and the original BT home hub having a print server capability.
Ok thanks.
From what I read somewhere (quite probably on this forum), yes it is possible but it is painfully slow and not a practical option.
Thanks Les.
