Connecting at G.DMT ?

Go to solution

Hello, I'm connected to Thamesmead exchange which has adsl2 and adsl2+ capability, so I was extremly disapointed to find out I have been connecting at G.DMT for over the past year since I changed from Be. How do I get my connection speed type changed ? do I have to call BT, is there a direct number rather then going through the possible 100 options.

Thanks Paul

It looks as if BT Wholesale have placed you on ADSLMAX up to 8mb service as moving you to ADSL2+ will offer no improvement in download speed and as adsl2+ is more noise aggressive than adsl max what is currently a a stable connection on adsl max may not be with adsl2+

If that was the case, then why was I getting a higher connection speed when I was connected with Be, it was hitting 9000 kbps same exchange. <script>// // do MifDescShow(refwaninfo) to get wan information var nowWanPort="ADSL"; //var enblEnetWan = '0'; var prtcl = 'PPPoA'; var wanDesc=[["EWAN","EWAN",0], ["ADSL","ADSL",1]]; var ifcADSL="ADSL",ifcEWAN="EWAN"; var VIRTUAL_EWAN="0"; function init() { var idtbls = ["tbldev", "tblport"]; for (var i = 0; i < idtbls.length; i++) changeRowCr (idtbls[i]); chgWANRowCr(); if (typeof (FlashShortTime) != "undefined") { if (FlashShortTime ==1) var refreshTime=5; else if (FlashShortTime ==2) var refreshTime=8; if (FlashShortTime!=0) setTimeout("location.replace('/basic/status_basic.html')",refreshTime*1000); if (nowWanPort==ifcADSL) document.getElementById("pp").innerHTML="Protocol VPI/VCI"; else if (nowWanPort==ifcEWAN){ if(VIRTUAL_EWAN != "1" && "0" != "1")//!GZ document.getElementById("pp").innerHTML="Protocol VLAN ID"; else document.getElementById("pp").innerHTML="Protocol"; } } } function chgWANRowCr() { var idd = document.getElementById("tblwan"); if (idd == null) return; var cnt = idd.rows.length; var n = 0; for (var i = 0; i < cnt; i++) { for (var j = 0; j < idd.rows[i].cells.length; j++) { idd.rows[i].cells[j].style.backgroundColor = ((n % 2) == 0) ? Re: Connecting at G.DMT ?

You have fibre available which will give a faster speed - anything between 20 - 7.9mb so may be broadband with fibre which is infinity for customerswho can't get 15mb

Re: Connecting at G.DMT ?

Be were an LLU provider using different exchange equipment but I wouldn't expect there to be much difference on adsl2
