Connecting dropping.

So I have had this issue since 2017 and it's still here.

I have had,

  • BT engineer check inside the home. No issues
  • Newer faceplate was fitted BT for free as no fault was found inside and it didn't solve the issue.
  • Upgrade my cable to twisted type
  • New adsl filters
  • BT HH5 & HH6 (doesn't change anything)

Line is the same in the test socket and line is quiet with the phone test.

Connect drops out randomly, sometimes taking 5 minutes or so to get back online.

I only see the dropouts at the time of using the computer, so potnetially there's more.

I use the internet for work so it's quite important that it works.

Re: Connecting dropping.

Not sure what you mean with you only see drops in connection when using pc.  Any drops in connection will be shown in the hub logs which you can search 'WAN'

with the number of connection drops in last couple of days you are very fortunate to still have max connection 80/20mb and not in a banded profile. Is it possible there is some electrical interference in your home that is causing the drops?

Re: Connecting dropping.

Thanks for the reply,

I live in flats so wondered if it was possible that other people using sockets etc could cause it.

The router sits on a woodern desk, it is not near any electrical equipment, nearest thing is about 4 meters away but I am not sure if that's a "safe" distance where interference wouldn't be an issue.

There is quite a lot of cable between the socket and the router, some 15 meters of twisted rj11.

6.25

Mbps upload

from current tests.

Re: Connecting dropping.

Still an issue.

Has been cutting out a lot recently. The router stays orange for 5-10 minutes, internet works again for a short while and then cuts out again.

Have turned off the router.

Have reset the router.

Have used HH5 & HH6

No difference.

Re: Connecting dropping.

Still a daily issue.

Moved the router into the room right next to the socket so it only needs 2 meters of rj45 rather than 20 meters. So basically moved the whole office into another room try and fix this connection issue.

It seems to be getting worse over time, router needs to be reset via the small button on the rear, general automatic restart doesn't work very well in terms of how long the connection stays stable for afterwards.

Hh5 or Hh6, doesn't make things better or worse.

Speeds drop to what the speedtests show as 0.05 mbps download but the upload stays at 15-20.
