Hi all,
I've search high and low, but can not find any info on this specific set up. I have BT infinity 2 and it appears to work fine with the BT Smart Hub, however, when I use my Netgear modem and router, I loose connection to the Internet. I use a Netgear DM200 in modem only mode and a Netgear R7000 (Nighthawk) router.
This started out as an intermittent issue. My internet would be working fine, then the DSL light on my modem would start to flash orange. Either waiting it out or turning it on and off would resole this. Very recently, this has now become a permanent issue.
Curiously, if I use the DM200 in router and modem mode, the Internet works fine, but then I am limited to just one Ethernet port and have no wifi, this doing this is not a valid option.
Last night I factory reset the modem and router. This did not make any difference. This morning I dug the BT Smart Hub out of storage, plugged it in and immediately I had Internet. I am curious if there are some settings I am missing on the DM200 that are causing it to loose its connection.
Any advice would be apprcitated!
Thanks

As the problem appears to be intermittent, it is unlikely to be a settings problem. It sounds more like the DM200 is failing.
Yes, it is the DSL light flashing that is confusing, otherwise it points to the R7000 WAN port. I wonder if loss of PPP session as well as DSL signal causes the DSL light to flash, in which case it could be the R7000
Does the DSL light flash if you unplug the R7000 WAN port?
Sounds very much like it if the Hub is also dropping. Is there any noise on the line when you do a quiet line test on 17070?
Just wanted to add this commnet for extra value incase your set up is a DM200 and a R7000 given this is likely to come up on google should you be searching BT issues in relation to these. It is a pain, but first factory reset your DM200. Set it to modem only mode. I am on BT infinity and I found setting Passthrough VLAN to FALSE works. If I set it to true, my r7000 could not pick up a conection.
Internet Login is
Username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com
Passowrd: BT (or blank if not requred)
Just let it auto configure. If it does not work, plug your BT router back in and use the broad band trouble shooter on the BT app. If that does not pick up a falut (and your BT router works with out issue), then I guess contact netgear support.
Good Luck!
I should be receiving a DM200 and hope to use it in modem only mode. My intention was to flash the DM200 to the latest firmware if not already installed and then factory reset. The next stage is where my question is going. After the factory reset do I just ignore the genie setup and go straight to the DM200 settings and put it in modem only mode remembering to disable VLAN as well or do I have to input some ppoe or ppoa settings before doing this. Reason I ask is that googling this Modem and BT infinity settings gives a wild variety of problems and solutions.

Ignore the genie. Connection is pppoe, login as posted above. You can only use it in modem mode as it is not a router. It is only a modem.
