Re: Connection Issues when using Netgear DM200 modem with Netgear R7000 (BT Infinity 2)

Go to solution

I realise from all the information I have already researched on the Netgear DM200 that it acts as a modem and single port router by default. I have however purchased it solely for use in modem only mode which on researching also seems to be the mode that seems to cause the most problems for everyone. What I guess I wanted to know is that if I switch the DM200 to modem only mode without ever entering any BT Infinity PPOE settings on it can I just plug it into my Linksys WRT32X wireless router and configure PPOE there instead? Or do I need to have at the very least set the PPOE settings on the DM200 first and then switch it to modem only mode?

PPPoE settings should be entered into Linksys.

So for those interested this is how I got mine to work seamlessly with BT Infinty. First I made sure I had the latest firmware downloaded from Netgear for the DM200 and connected the DM200 directly to my laptop. I bypassed any setup options and went straight to the admin options of the modem and flashed the latest firmware

https://www.netgear.com/support/product/DM200#Firmware%20Version%201.0.0.61

After this just chose the option to switch the modem/router to bridge modem only mode

(You may need VLAN pass through ticked, I did not at first and my router Linksysy WRT32X although connected did not work properly until I went back and turned pass through on. You will also need to have set your VLAN ID as 101 along with your PPOE login details for BT Infinty)

Hi gsxrguy46,

I have setup my new DM200 with R700 router as you advised below with ticking the VLAN box on DM200 and adding the VLAN ID and PPOE details to the R700 internet works fine for most devices, But my Amazon fire TV's and Samsung Smart TV are unable to load any streaming app IE, BBC iPlayer, Netflix Prime Video oddly they work fine on iPad's and X Boxes.

Do you have any ideas as to why this is happening ?

Thanks for any help you or others can give
