Connection Point Install

Hi, I hope all is well.

I tenanted a new house. Before applying, how can I be sure there is a connection point for IT in the new home?

I add what happened at home as a picture.

Re: Connection Point Install

Easist way is to put your phone number or address into the Openreach wholesale checker https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
to see what type of connection (ADSL, VDSL or FTTP) you can get.

Re: Connection Point Install

Thank @Gary_C  so very much.

Master socket with a single socket. Reference https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/getting-set-up/home-networks/a-wired-home-network/what-type-of-mas...

Re: Connection Point Install

So from that you should be able to order VDSL with good speed.

You can also order G.Fast which will give you very good speeds as you seem to be close enough to the cabinet to get the best out of it.

The socket would need you to use filters on any phone there and on any extension, so a dual master socket with an inbuilt filter would be better and should be easy to ask for on ordering I would have thought and if you go G.Fast I think a new master socket is part of the install.

Re: Connection Point Install

Thanks @Gary_C .

I will only use the internet. I don't need a landline phone.

I think the master socket will be sufficient.

@serdarkaracay

You would still be allocated a phone number, whether you use it or not, there is no extra charge, but if you do make any calls, they are charged at 20p a minute.

Re: Connection Point Install

In theory, it is. In practice, I will not use a landline phone.

Is master socket single socket enough? This is the question.  😎

You just need to plug in a microfilter which provides the correct connection for the lead from the home hub.

A microfilter is normally provided with the home hub.

As shown here.

Re: Connection Point Install

if you select G.FAST you probably get socket replaced with one that has 2 connections - phone and broadband
