Connection dropouts - AGAIN

Hi all

I have an issue that I could do with some advice with.

This has happened a few times over the years but this time I am stumped.

My homehub is constantly dropping connection, sometimes a few times in an hour and sometimes after 3 to 6 hours etc.

I have had a steady DL sync speed of around 10.9 since the exchange was upgraded over a year ago. The connection dropouts began on Xmas eve with over 50 in a day. These connections have continued to drop since although not at this rate. The phone line also went of on a couple of occasions.

My DL and UL sync speed had dropped a lot since. The UL has since recovered.

I have spoke to the call centre, with the usual advice given. I have changed micro filters and even unplugged phones but this has made no difference. I did have a HH4 but replaced it with my old HH2 on Indias advice, made no difference.

The line with the noise test seems fine.

I understand that with a constant connection my BRAS profile will increase to how it was, the issue is that I cant get the steady connection needed.

PLEASE HELP< ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY !!

Here are my latest line stats.

Are you connected to the test socket?

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

Hi

Not at the moment but I have tried that and it was the same.

Nothing has changed in the house, so i find it hard to understand what else could be the problem.

1- micro filters changed

2- HH4 replaced with HH2

3- phones disconnected.

Still no change.

No factors that i can think of to have an intermitent effect.

What are your views regarding my stats ?

Any help will save what is left of my sanity !!!

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

Could a sky box connecetd to the socket affect it ? The set up has been the same for years ?

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

the stats show no real problems i would suggest connecting to the test socket and leaving it there for a few days and also posting your stats again when connect to the test socket

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

Hi
Thanks for the help. As suggested, I have connected the original HH4 to the test socket. Here are the results, the same as previous at the living room socket. What remains to be seen now is whether the line stays connected and in time this should return my original BRAS profile, is that correct ?

I guess the next step if this happens is to connect to the master socket with faceplate on and see what happens?

I have also ordered the accelerator plate.

If the test socket is stable but issue return with the master socket I have a wiring issue ?

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

Incidentally, should I have plugged into the actual test socket or the master ?

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

the test socket also ensure you have a filter fitted to the sky box not just the splitter they supply your IP Profile is set by your connection speed not the other way round

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

Ok thanks
Will the IP profile raise with the constant connection ( should it be maintained ) thus getting me back to the previous DL speeds of circa 9.5 ?

Before the issues I had a constant DL speed of 9.5 with a HH sync speed of 10.9.
This has obviously lowered .

Should this improve ?

Re: Connection dropouts - AGAIN

your IP Profile will only increase if your connection speed increases

your noise margin is at the normal default all that you can do now is wait and see if the new lower noise margin of 3dB sets if it does then your connection speed and IP profile will increase automatically
