Connection dropping on wired only

I am having a problem with my Home Hub 2 connection.


2 Days ago, my connection started dropping every 30 seconds or so, and is still doing it. When I -t ping, every 20 seconds or so, the connection drops for around 3-5 seconds. This continues for aslong as I keep pinging. I am on a wired connection.


The strange thing is, the wireless connection is absolutely fine. There are no drops in connection at all, nor are there any other problems. The issue is soley on the cabled connections. 


  • I have tried all the ethernet ports on the modem
  • I have tried the test socket (under the cover of the phone line socket on the wall)
  • I have tried different ethernet cables
  • I have tried different PC's and laptops
  • The wired connection drops consistently every 20 seconds, for 3-5 seconds
  • This has been happening a couple of days
  • The Home Hub firmware is up to day
  • My wireless card(s) drivers are up to date
  • I have tried with and without anti virus/security enabled



I am reluctant to think this is a phone line problem, as that would not explain why the wireless connection works fine. I am tempted to think I have a faulty Home Hub.

My apologies, problem sorted with a simple reset of the router.
