I recent switched to running a wire from my PC to my model 1 Home Hub after wireless was causing many problems. Wireless, my connection was constant and reliable, but SLOW.
Having gone "wired", I now have double the bandwidth I had before and all was well for a couple of days. Now I am getting my connection dropping roughly every 20-30 minutes! It only drops for a very short time, probably about 5 seconds, then re-establishes the connection. This makes gaming almost impossible. Funnily enough, after 6pm it seems to stabalize and I can get entire evenings with no DCs, this seems to be an afternoon/morning thing.
Only other clue I have is that if I am surfing at the time it happens, I get re-directed to a Home Hub page saying my DSL was disconnected.
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) bt speedtester and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
