Hi i have a huge problem here, have had bt total option 3 installed since september and have had 1Mb down although promised around 6Mb. After ringing up our speed suddenly increased (miraclous ey?) then of course it died 2 days later back down to 1MB. Have rung up 8 times now and nothings chnaged. This has also come along with constants disconnects, by constant i mean every 5 minutes. Have had 3 engineers out. Got a 'senior' engineer coming this week. The guys on the phone said they would reset our profile over the weekend, as per normal absolutely nothings happened.

resetting your profile won't help as profile is determined by your connection speed. so you need a higher speed to get a higher profile.
with your 55 attenaution you could on a good connection get about 4mb
are you connected to the master or test socket? do you have other sockets apart from the master?
can you run btspeedtester and post the results
from what you say does that mean you do have other sockets just they are not in use? if that is correct then can you connect to the test socket behind bottom half of master NTE5.
the good thing is you are on the new profile system so any increase in speed will be immediately reflected in a riae in profile and knock on rise in download speed
then try the quiet line test dial 17070 option2 should hear nothing and best with a corded phone if cordless then dull hum is normal

borrow a phone just for the test just trying to make sure there is no noise on your line as this will kill your broadband
