Credit report default

Hi folks, after applying for a remortgage on my house, I've had to supply a credit report. There's a default on it from bt saying I owe them £25, now at this time I had broadband. Due to me not getting the agreed Download speed it was cancelled. I then received a bill for phone calls which I refused to pay as I never had a phone in the house. So now I've a default because of this, who do I contact to sort this out? Thanks in advance 😁

Re: Credit report default

Hi.

Ppl will tell you to contact Equifax and dispute the default as its the only way to contact the Bt department that deals with this sort of thing but dont waste your time because Bt will just say the default is accurate and will remain on your credit report. I have a default from them for a supposedly missed payment from 4 years ago and they have had me jumping through hoops for nearly 3 months its a complete waste of time, just write directly to them and explain the situation and tell them to respond ASAP if they dont you will need to complain to the financial ombudsman service or take them to court to get anywhere.

Re: Credit report default

Thanks for the reply, I talked to someone on the phone today and am no further forward. My account is showing blank, I raised the issue when I phoned experian. They've now contacted bt to say I've made attempts to sort something out but to no avail. If there's nothing outstanding the default is to be removed! From such a well established company, this seems to happen way to often. Were I come from what they were doing is stealing simple as!! At the time they couldn't even provide me with an itemised bill for the supposedly phone calls I made. They were never made cause I didn't have a phone 😐
