The Exchange I connect to is currently being upgraded to Fibre and over the last few weeks my ADSL connection has been somewhat unstable with noise margin drops causing fairly frequent discconnects. As a result my noise margin now seems to be stuck around 17dB resulting in lower speeds (was previously sitting around 6dB with stable connection). I have had over 5 days of stable connection (see attached) and would ask if someone could arrange for a DLM reset on my line to bring it back down to 6dB and faster speed.
Incidentally I notice that whilst FTTC is not available for me yet that ADSL 2+ is now available on my line and wonder whether I would see any benefit from being swapped to that?

Hi imjolly,
As requested.
as you can see the estimated speeds for adslmax and adsl2 are very similar but using your attenuation of 46.5db and assuming adsl2 might change that to 48db I think that would probably give a connection speed about 5.5/6mb and an up speed of 0.8/1.0mb
the mods will post here to help reset noise margin and you can ask them at same time to upgrade to adsl2 if you want it may mean a new contract but mods will advise you
as there does not appear to be a cabinet number on checker results looks like you are EO - exchange only. you will only get FTTC if openreach erect a cabinet outside the exchange
Yes, I am on an EO line at present, as are most of the lines from this Exchange (it is in a rural location). The first fibre cabinet is due to go live fairly soon with a plan to install a number of others in the future, as I understand it. Hopefully one of those future cabinets will provide me with an FTTC connection but time will tell.
Thanks for your assistance with this.
Hi @bellim
Thanks for your post and welcome back!
Sorry you're experiencing slow broadband speeds and that your broadband is dropping out. There may be an underlying issue here but we'll be happy to take a closer look and if all looks good we can help with the reset too.

Hi Robbie,
Details sent through.

Hi Robbie,
I did as you suggested and plugged the router into the test socket and ensured the phone was disconnected and powered off (so only router connected). The noise margin reduced a little (to around 14dB) but also saw a small increase in speed (to 4352 kbps) which may be the reason.
I struggle to understand how I had a stable 5MB speed (and sometimes 5.5MB) with a consistent noise margin of 6dB until around mid May and nothing has changed within my premises. I did have a line fault towards the end of last year which PaddyB assisted with but everything has been stable since then, up until mid May. I did the quiet line test but heard no noise.
I noticed that my line could would now support ADSL 2+ (I am guessing this has happened as part of the ongoing "fibre enabling" of my exchange) and wonder if I could be move to that to realise any speed increase?
I am reluctant to give you the OK to close this down at present as my issue has not been resolved so far.
Regards,
Ian
are you still connected to test socket? if so can you post the stats from your router to cmpare with previous set please?
moving to adsl2 will probably not make much difference to your down speed but will increase up speed by about 100%
you need to ask the mod who is helping
Hi imjolly,
Please find stats as requested.
