This post is certainly more helpful than BT who have lied to me all week. Their staff seemed quite embarressed when I proved they were lying to me. I have spent 2 days waiting in my house for a bt engineer to call who then hasn't turned up, I was promised a call back from BT today which hasn't materialised.
I still have no telephone line or broadband, although I do now have a nice new router, which when you speak to BT they haven't even sent out yet!
The problem is that BT are not only not sorting the problem out, they are actually lying to me as to the resaon why my line has not been connected etc.
Reason 1 was that the order had never been processed.
Reason 2 was that the engineer had visited the exchange and there was a problem there.
Reason 3 was that I had contacted BT and had asked them if I could keep my old number from my previous property and this was causing delays. They were shocked when I denied this and was also able to quote the new phone number they had already given me for the new property.
I asked where my new router had gone to. It hadn't been sent out as the order had never been processed and wouldn't be sent out until a new order was placed. The router then arrived this morning despite it being to late to post it out last night, so it was obviously just sent out late but they didn't want to admit it.
The date of the order was printed on the packaging for the new router and clearly shows the order being placed 3 weeks ago.
Yesterday I was contacted by a manager at BT who promised that I would receive a phone call this morning to let me know when an engineer would be calling. It is now 8.30pm and I am still waiting.
Despite BT clearly being at fault they refuse to do anything about it and refuse to keep their promises to contact me. Their BTfon and BTopenzone are both available at my new property yet BT refuse to allow me to use this service whilst they sort the problems out - BUT I CAN USE IT IF I PAY THEM £5 A DAY.
I have so far lost over £100 due to BT being incompetent and all they can do is say ring again tomorrow!
yes at lease someone is telling the truth.....DON'T JOIN BT........still awaiting for my broadband to be fixed....phone line down ( the fault is from your home....£150 charge ).........will be leaving bt quick as possible
I really feel I must respond to this old comment - "Don't join BT!" is using the customer's experience to help each other.
This is a very helpful post and I just wish I had seen a comment like this before I signed up - it would have been very helpful indeed.
Now - I am just waiting to reach the end of Contract to get away from BT.
