John, they also look at this thead and will be able ot see that he cannot talk due to the operation on his throat. It's part of the job skill set to be able to commucate via more than one medium.
I ended up having a friend who called round call it, and from what i can make out the following has occured:
last month i called to cancel landline and internet due to the possibility of moving to another country,
the next day i called again to cancel the cancellation, the guy on the other end said that both the cancellation orders had been removed and everything would continue as normal.
the other day when net went down, as it has done so in the past i didnt immediately put 2+2 together, but after going over it through my friend, with bt that seems to be the case.
BT engineer came out today to reactivate the line and hook everything back up, but hit issues as the line i was originally connected to had been given to someone else, and the new line they were putting me on had a fault on it, so they say it will be sorted tomorrow instead.
Now, my landline still does not work but the internet is now working again, the only issue is that my down speed which used to be (via speedtester.net) constantly 76+/16+ is now reporting 37/16, the latter suggests that it's still on the 80/20 profile so im not sure why the former seems to be on the old 40 profile?
Would this just be a result of the repairs not being completed for the phone side of things or is there something i need to do to restore the old profile of 80/20?
Due to your phone line not working there sitll could be a fault on your line, if the speed doesn't pick up by tomorrow when the phone has been fixed then report back here.
Lines fixed, here are my current speeds:

I used to get WAY higher than this, any ideas?
Hey, can do you this speedtest so we can see your IP profile.
1. Go to www.speedtester.bt.com
2. Click on ADSL & FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) diagnostics)
3. Enter your telephone number, leave service ID blank (not required)
4. Click submit, confirm your telephone number when prompted
5. Let it test your broadband connection
6. Copy the download and upload results including the IP Profiles for both
You won't be able to get the profile reset with those speeds, you just need to wait for DLM to increase your IP profile over the next week or 2.
Today would have been the 4th day since the line was fixed, speeds had slowly been improving (ip profile had gone up to 66meg), however this morning for no apparent reason the DSL line has completely died again, despite the phone line still working just fine (previously the phone line was dead too)
*sigh* 😞
How about this? I lost Infinity internet- no DSL- just before going on holiday for a week. It was still down when we returned. Called the Indian call centre and an Openreach guy appeared next day (Saturday). Turned out that someone while working in the local cabinet had disconnected our internet feed (the phone worked ok). Hopefully this is a one off
occurence but all the same it is worrying that this carelessness can happen.
