Debt Agency Scam?

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me, I left BT back in August and I've just had an email from a debt collection agency demanding payment. I haven't had any letters through the post, and I've checked through both of my email accounts and I haven't had any e-mails mentioning anything about an outstanding figure from BT? Is someone trying to scam me?

Kind Regards,

Daniel.

Re: Debt Agency Scam?

I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.
They are the only BT employees on this forum, and are based in the UK.

Re: Debt Agency Scam?

Under ideal conditions, the moderators can normally deal within 48 hours, but they are running a bit behind at the moment as they are only a small team based in the UK. They will however take full ownership until any issues are resolved. They are a very good team.

Re: Debt Agency Scam?

Hi DanielS

I've just been looking through forum posts, on the phone I mentioned that I had never received any letters in the post, which you confirmed as the letters had been returned undeliverable. Further to this you said that it simply isn't possible to recall a debt once it has gone to a debt collectors. I've  just read the following post from yourself;

Re: "We've passed your debt of X to a debt collection agency"
Hi @jayadoubleu,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

I've been over everything and I can see that it was indeed for Premium Mail charges. I'm recalling the debt back from the debt collection agency so I can deal with it and hopefully remove the full charges. I'll check to see if it has come back on Monday and get back in touch with you if it has. If it hasn't, I'll be off on Tuesday but I'll check it on Wednesday and update you.

Thanks

I'm just a tad confused about this conflicting information, especially as when I was trying to resolve this situation with yourselves a colleague ended the phone call mid conversation and then immediately blocked all my inbound and outbound phone services making it impossible for me to resolve the situation. I have a full log of this information with dates, including the abusive phone call I received from your call centre located outside of this country, which nobody at BT ever seemed bothered about.

Also I've been informed that the debt collection agency may be referring the debt back to BT, which further conflicts what you said about the debt cannot be returned to BT.

I'd prefer if you responded on here and not by phone so I have a text log.

Thanks,

Re: Debt Agency Scam?

Hi @Rodge91,

I can see that it was my colleague @RobbieMac, that was dealing with your case and not @DanielS. Robbie is in the office later on today and I'll ask him to take a look at your case again.

Thanks
