Debug line speed from Draytek Vigor information

Firstly ..... very impressed with the Draytek 2750 Vn.  I'm using lots of the features, inc. VoIP, and it's coping well.  Nice manual - pretty much idiot proof.

Does anybody know how to use the statistics from the Draytek to debug why my line speed is not as high as I'd like ?

Does anybody have a definition of what the 'profiles' translate to ?

The new profiles are here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Very_high_speed_digital_subscriber_line_2

The new higher speed profile for FTTC next year is supposed to be 17a

Re: Debug line speed from Draytek Vigor information

Looking at your electrical length it is a fair bit more than mine and so your distance from the cabinet is greater than I am.

The one problem with VDSL2 is that the speed falls off greatly with distance initially and then stabalise for quite a way beofre tailing off again.

So even if you seem almost as close as I am that can affect VDSL speed quite dramactically.

Although you are at almost 30 meg/sec and hopeflly will get a bigger boost when the new speeds are introduced next spring.

Re: Debug line speed from Draytek Vigor information

Here is mine after, it looks like I have moved to VDSL2 Profile 17a, which COULD give me 56Mbit down and 20Mbit up Smiley Happy

Re: Debug line speed from Draytek Vigor information

That is a nice bit of data there you have a lot longer line than the OP yet you were synching 8 meg/sec higher than he is.

I wonder if the OP has a very noisy line or if his cabinet has more connections on it which means a lot more cross talk with VDSL2 is very sensitive to.

Can the OP check with a wired phone if you voice part of the line has any crackles or noise on it when you make a call as it could be that you have a problem between you house and the cabinet and a crackly voice line could really impact on the broadband big time.

If that is the case you can report a voice fault (DO NOT MENTION BROADBAND) to BT and getting the voice side sorted makes the broadband better.

Hmmm ....... odd.  Now look at the data.  Apart from moaning some more to the Helpdesk (and being told that there was nothing that they could do), I've not made any changes:
