Dire connection speed again

Why is it i am paying for a supposed 8mps only to find that good olf rip off BT is only supplying me with 1.7 and that is after running their speed tester 5 times and i have the privelaage of BT putting their hand in my pocket for the sum of £35 a month and soon to be going up even more. And i dont have a christmas tree up of lights nor my microwave going or even my tv on at this moment in time.

Hi Broadband speeds are sold as up to UP TO services this applies to all ISP's your speed is controlled by the distance you are from the exchange and the quality of the line
