Directory services being dialed by ghosts

Never dialed any directory services at all but seems there £65 added to bill as bill shows someone has been calling directory servive every hours just for 16 secnds. Has BT been hacked?  Contrary to that we were getting annoying calls from BT probably on same day every hour almost about blooming mails on server somewhere which I had to disable to get rid of those messages. BT as usual saying our system is right and someone visiting may have been dialing for 16 seconds?? We did not have any visitors since ages!!!

Re: Directory services being dialed by ghosts

There could be a fault on your line or it could be something you have plugged in that has a fault and is dialling out.

Hi. Welcome to the forums.

Have these calls stopped ? Can you say which 118 call was dialled, or was it different ones ?

How may calls were actually made, £65 equates to around 40-60 calls at 16 seconds.

As for the calls from BT, were these actually from BT ? What were they saying about "mails on server" ? How do you mean you disabled them ?

Equipment can go faulty, e.g. cordless phones not dialling correctly. Do you have anything that might dial out every hour ? E.g. to 0118 numbers (which is Reading area), and perhaps not dialling the initial 0.

BT has not been hacked, if so it would be happening everywhere.
