Disconnecting from internet

My wife and me both run our computers from the BT Home Hub 2.0, my wife runs Windows Vista and I have XP. Several times a day one of us will lose connection to the internet when the other is fine and sometimes both of us will lose connection. I then have to reset the Hub to enable us to regain use of the internet again. Both computers are connected to the Hub by Ethernet cable.  Can anyone help us as to what is causing this please?

check that the drivers for both your network cards are up to date - check manufacturers website not just windows
