Re: Do BT tell Lies ?

That's terrible. You should complain at the highest level and get your speed reduced πŸ˜„

You think Ofcom will investigate BT's practises and do what?

I believe after the "deadlock" letter you do not involve Ofcom.

If you wish you can involve the Ombudsman to which BT subscribe. I believe the details of this will be in the "deadlock" letter.

The Ombudsman is basically an arbitration service with the power to instruct BT to take action.

His decision is not final to the consumer, you can if you wish take BT to court if you don't believe the Ombudsman's decision was correct.

There is no cost to the Consumer for using the Ombudsman's service.

Re: Do BT tell Lies ?

Yeah but if your line is running at the max, what action can they take?

Well,

My profile is 15.1

I download at 14.7

All's well then? No.

BT have identified there is a faulty line and after a lengthy discussion they have promised to replace the 22m of faulty line by the 15/7/2013. That should get me up to the predicted 20.

Perhaps the poster has a faulty line?

Re: Do BT tell Lies ?

Sorry,

I misunderstood I thought he said:

"What i`m getting now,surprise surprise 40mbps
But 56mpbs before i signed up"

I did a screen grab of the predicted speed screen before I signed up.

I always keep records of everything I am told. There is a something (can't remember the exact wording) in the BT trems that says you should expect a speed within 2 of the prediction.

ADDED THIS FROM TERMS:

"The BT broadband range is an indication of the speed that other similar lines across the UK have achieved for their broadband service; this is generally within 1-2 Mb higher or lower than your single estimated speed quoted for BT broadband."

Re: Do BT tell Lies ?

The surprise, surprise was in answer to my asking what is the estimate for the line. It's estimated at 40 and he gets 40. So no surprise really.

Re: Do BT tell Lies ?

I think he was saying when he signed up the predictor said he should get 58.

I must need to go for a restSmiley Wink

Also from the terms:

"The BT broadband range is an indication of the speed that other similar lines across the UK have achieved for their broadband service; this is generally within 1-2 Mb higher or lower than your single estimated speed quoted for BT broadband."

Re: Do BT tell Lies ?

Ok, imagine he proves it, imagine he gets BT to agree to take action. However as it's on the estimate what can they do exactly? Change the laws of physics?
