Is this a BT supplied Youview box . Supplied as part of a BT TV contract ?
If so have you followed the setup instructions ?

I suggest you follow the setup instructions that came with the box to ensure that no steps are omitted.
Setting it up without an Internet connection will mean that the setup process was not completed as the Youview box will not have checked for software and player updates.
