Replaced HH5 with a 130 10 months ago, from BT Shop. Speeds less than HH5, but able to use Netgear AC3200 R8000 which was reason for purchase. HH5 would connect in high 70's, the 130 less, and dropped even more when started to stream CD quality music files (DLM?). Recently whilst streaming, Internet cut out. No lights on 130. Flashed firmware with Draytek's help. Worked for 30 mins and stopped again. Sent back to Draytek under Warranty. Say no fault but replaced hardware on old shell and sent new PSU. Running 3.7.8 firmware. On return set up again, worked OK for a while, speed 59 d/s and 13-18 u/s. Line speeds 80/20 on Infinity 2. However, after short time, stops working. Diagnostics in network status on Mac, show Internet and Server failures, but wi-fi, wi-if settings, network settings, and isp are all ok, and call for a reboot of the modem, which is what was happening before I returned it. At Draytek;s suggestion, tried 3.7.9 firmware from US site, but very slow. Replaced with HH5 which works faultlessly, however I would like to be able to use just a modem and the Netgear. Draytek seem to have washed their hands of it and say it was tested for 2 days and it is working fine. BT Shop didn't even reply to my email. Should I just ditch the 130 and buy an Openreach modem from eBay? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Unlocked HG612 3B is always a popular choice on here.
It "just works" and my line stats are like watching paint dry 🙂
Why does it need to be unlocked if I want to access BT Infinity? The eBay vendors don't say if locked or unlocked. How do I unlock it if I buy one?
You don't need to get an unlocked one. It will work on Infinity whether or not it is locked or unlocked. All unlocking does is to allow you to see the stats for your connection.
Also the unlocked ones, block the dreaded vlan301 backdoor which is used for ...."updates" 😮
