Hoping someone may be able to provide an insight of what happened here
completed bt home move- all up and running fine with bt smart hub
Treated myself to a rt2600ac router - Discover the smart hub has no modem only mode, doh
Purchased a eci modem on ebay,
Arrived, Unplug home hub, plug in modem, dsl light flashes, goes out, .................flashes goes out.......hmmmm
Ok maybe something wrong here, try reset, same again........ok plug back in smart hub, flashes purple- just doesnt connect, reset.....still nothing,
turn all off, try again, same,
Turn all off, including pulling phone line out the wall, wait 10 minutes, plug in , all works,
so do the eci modems no longer work?
what do i need to get my rt2600 up and running, can i get a business smart hub and use bride mode ( seems cheapest way?)
any idea why my smarthub didn't reconnect till i pulled the phone line out and put it back?

Hi @james160987
Welcome to the Community!
ECI Modems should still work, perhaps it is a faulty one if you’ve tried resetting it. Maybe claim your eBay Money Back Gurantee?
Yes, the Business Hubs do have a bridge mode but you’d have to remember to change the connection details. It would probably be simpler to buy a different Openreach Modem off eBay, and the Huawei ones work on ECI lines as well.
Not sure about phone line, maybe it became loose?
Thanks
Do you have a G.Fast connection or just normal VDSL? Openreach modems won't work with G.Fast.
bt halo 1 . assume that's normal vdsl .
phone line is not loose, nice and secure , just seemed odd and i cant figure out why the behavior,
I will try another off ebay, i was looking at the net gear dm200 but everywhere out of stock it seems,
I take it business hub if i get one, would be just log in as per the normal smart hub but there is the additional option to switch into a bridge/modem only mode,
think spending £60+ on the draytek is a bit overkill for me,

As long as it's online 😊
Oh yes, they are. They were never a good modem anyways, in my opinion.
Yes, bridge mode is in Advanced Settings > Broadband > Routing, and you change the PPPoE settings on the internet page. While I couldn't try to connect, it would accept the @btbroadband.com domain as some are blocked.
Yes, they are a good modem though. As mentioned before you can get the Huawei modem.
OK, please post back how it goes.
Oh yes; shame about the Huawei ones they are more than they used to be.
new one turned up, plugged in, all worked fine, must have had a duff one,
Only downisd eis i now own a little ugly white box, Be much nicer for a black sat below 🙂
maybe in time ill upgrade it to something else and give the netgear one ago,
