Email help needed please

Go to solution

Can someone please help me with my emails.

I got a virus over the weekend on my pc, it has gone off to be fixed but in the mean time I changed my password on my email account.

I have tried to log in today and it is telling me the user name/password is incorrect and it is locking me out for 15 mins very quickly, afte 1 or 2 attempts.

I have tried to answer the security questions but they are apparently wrong, there is no way my answers are wrong!

How on earth do I access my emails to reset the security questions so I can change my password? I am having to use my daughters email to make this account as I can't get in mine to verify it 😞

Many thanks

Do you know if you are on the BTYahoo or BTMail system?

Were you ever able to log in after you changed your password?

Hi,

It's a BT Yahoo email account. I could access it after I had changed the password. I have just managed to get into them again and I am trying to find where I can amend my security questions but can not find it anywhere and seem to be going round in circles.

It's all very strange as I just got in using the same password as I have tried numberous times already today

The BTYahoo email system can be a bit flacky at times.

I am not on the BTYahoo email system so can not help you with changing the security questions but I'm sure some other forum member will offer you help

To change your security question and answer you need to log in to MYBT and then click on Settings, then Profile.  Scroll down and there should be an option to change your security question and answer.

I was aware that is the way it is done with BTMail but not with BTYahoo, thanks for that info.

Thank you for your replies. I think that some of the was MyBT and me emails had different passwords and unless you are really careful you may be trying to log into the wrong account, hence I kept getting locked out!

I did get into MYBT last night and the security question was different to the one it asked me to reset my emails so no idea how I change my email security question? I have updated the mobile no and 2ndry email address so hopefully that will help.

It's just been a nightmare to use Yahoo mail since it now logs you out every 20 mins, it's really worrying when you can't get in, especially after you have had a virus that you don't know where it came from.

Hopefully today with more investigation I will find out where on earth I change my email security questions.

Many thanks

As far as I'm aware, the security questions for your primary email are the same as the MYBT questions. There are no discrete security questions for sub-addresses, they use the primary account credentials. The whole BTID/MYBT/email password system is a complete dog's breakfast.

I have to agree!! I have this morning spent an hour on the Chat with someone who did try to help but didn't try anything I hadn't already so nothing sorted. I had to ring a telephone number and spoke to a very baffled lady for another hour trying to sort it out. She has no idea what has happened but even she couldn't reset the password, it has now been escalated to higher up and they will call me tomorrow. There definitely is a problem and thankfully not something that I am doing wrong. My stress levels are through the roof. Bizarely though I can log on fine through my phone app, go figure that one!!
