Re: Email size decreased, advertisements increased.

Thunderbird, when configured as IMAP, downloads the spam folder, and calls it "bulk mail", where you can delete or move any message.

It also has its own spam filter which learns what is spam, and what is not.

I think you will find that you are not actually paying for email, unless you are paying for BT Premium Mail.

Its simply a Value Added Service, which you can use if you want to. Adverts help to cover the cost that BT have to pay their email provider.

Alternatively, you are free to use other email services like Gmail.

Keith, unfortunately we are not all whiz kids on computers, so why should we try other things when we are paying BT.  I am not a Techno at 73 years old.

Perhaps people have been ignoring the adverts Smiley Wink

Not really sure, as I do not use webmail, just an email client.

There is nothing complicated about using an email client, in fact it makes it a lot easier to use any email service.

Re: Email size decreased, advertisements increased.

Hi,

I checked - BT Mail is free :

"BT Mail is free for BT Broadband customers. Just choose BT Mail when you order your broadband package."

So, it does not state that it is a Value Added Service, but then since it states it is free, then i assume we are therefore not paying for it directly.

There are no reasons for BT to restrict the view of the webmail. It is not customer friendly. We already have adverts on the sign in page.

Not everyone is technically literate to move to IMAP.

BT should keep the system as it was.

With the recent increases in charges, then this change is very unwelcome.

Regards,

Shadders.

Re: Email size decreased, advertisements increased.

Hi all - this is nothing to do with whether or not BT mail is free or whether we should be seeing adverts.

The simple problem is -  the way the view of mail is presented has changed overnight.  The width of the "Mail Account" and "Advertisment" columns has increased which has reduced the width of the viewing pane for the emails.    I suspect this is a technical issue that I am hoping BT will fix.

Can someone from the BT Mail team please comment ??

Do you mean using an Email client?

You can use both an email client, and webmail (if you need to access it elsewhere)

It's only a matter of minutes and I can now see all I need to see with Mozilla Thunderbird , just a little hiccup, seemed only wanted to import fron outlook but is now up and running and BT mail can now go and take a "running jump" , just hope their advertising clientel get wind of this....

Please let me know if BT put this back as if they do I have a soft spot for them and will return..

John 🙂
