Email tabs and search tabs

Since the "updated" BT Mail I cannot open more than one email at a time and searches no longer have a tab meaning every time I open an email on a search the search vanishes. Has anyone found a solution to this or am I doing something wrong?

If you use one of the "Preview" views and double click on the email in the list it will open in a new window and you can have as many windows open as you want. You will however have to close them individually when you are finished with them. This also applies while using the search function.
