Emails request YouView Box return in error

When I contacted BT, it resulted in a change of service. I was sent a new Hub, Disk and TV Box. Whilst talking to the salesperson, he categorically stated on at least 2 occasions that I did not need to return my old YouView box. That way we could always plug it back in and watch the programmes we had saved. I am now receiving emails requesting its return and stating the charge if I don't. I believe I was mis-sold. Surely I cannot be the first to experience this problem?
