End of Contract

My BT TV contract has come to an end and I haven't renewed it. I was of the belief, after specificially asking this question of BT before first signing up, that I get to keep the YouView box afterwards. However, I'm getting emails from BT telling me to return it. At the moment they're "we need you to return it" but I'm wondering if these will turn to "return it or else"? Am I obliged to return it?

I can't believe that they are still pulling this trick. It's been going on so long - and in the face of so much feedback - that it *must* be deliberate.
