Ending BT TV Contract

Hi,

My BT TV contract ends on 13th February on the old MAX HD package.

I don;t really fancy any of the new packages with the price they are asking and having to pay extra for HD,

If I don't wish to renew my existing package or a new one do I have to give BT 30 days notice?

Will my YouView box revert to a freeview book without the BT content but I will still have the Apps like Iplayer and the ability to record? Is the TV Guide still available?

Hi @glenhill68 

Yes you'll still need to give 30 days notice, if you do nothing you will automatically be on a rolling 30 day contract when your fixed term is complete.

As far as I know you'll still have access to the Guide, freeview channels and the ability to record.

So 30 days before 13th Feb I need to give them notice?

I understand all i lose is any BT Content like AMC and BT Sport. I doubt retentions will offer much lolo.

@glenhill68, yes if you give the loyalty team a call on 0800 800 150 on the 14th Jan they'll be able to organise that for you.

Yes, it has been said that there aren't discounts available for these legacy packages once your existing contract expires. I cancelled my Max 4K package just over a month ago for the same reason as you. It's also been reported in some areas of the media that these packages will also significantly increase in price, and as BT seem to struggle with communicating I made sure that I cancelled before any price hike was applied. 

It's gone very quiet on the price increase for legacy packages so may be BT have thought better of it, but based upon their assertion that they'd informed all affected customers that they Disney channels were being removed, when clearly they hadn't, I didn't leave anything to chance.

They have certainly bumped the prices up with their NOW TV packages and having to pay extra for HD. I left Sky 7 years ago for the reason of prices constantly going up so it looks like I will be leaving BT TV too. My Broadband contract got another year to go.
