Engineers using my line?

This afternoon I have been cut off three times in the middle of a single phone conversation. The phone goes "beep beep beep", then goes dead and when I look at the handset it says "line in use" although there is no-one else using it here.

This has happened many times before and on one occasion it resulted in me being without a phoneline completely for days. When it was finally fixed I was told my line had been disconnected by mistake at the exchange.

I have not reported any faults so why are the engineers fiddling around with my line? Can't they tell the line's in use before they cut me off?

Re: Engineers using my line?

Its probably an intermittent line fault.

'I was told my line had been disconnected by mistake at the exchange'

What a call centre tells you is not always what exactly happened.
