For some reason the event log isn't overwriting with recent data and it's
not clearing down on doing a re start (not even powering off clears it)
it's just filling up with automatic channel selection info which is
sticking and this has left only 4 lines for the stats which is no good, any
ideas please on how to fix it?

Turn off the smart wireless, and manually set the wireless to a fixed channel. Try channel 11.
If you have turned it off, then you should not see the automatic channel selection messages. Re-check to make sure that it is turned off.
It's definitely off Keith and the automatic selection messages have stopped but the previous ones remain in the log and neither a re-start or power off clears the log.
I'm reluctant to do that Keith because it turnes off BT Fon and my past experience with the home hub2 was that I could never get it turned back on how ever many times I unsubscribed/re-subscribed.
Are the dates on the event logs correct?
What is the earliest and the latest date on page 1 and 3?
