I understand that the Moderators are busy, I have spent many years within the service industry (in electrical engineering) so I know how busy things can get sometimes.

The point is we are paying for a broadband service that we are simply not receiving, it works sometimes then others it's simply awful. If I were to take the attitude "I'll will pay the bill when we can" I'm sure BT would be onto me pretty damned quickly.

If someone was for example paying monthly to rent a car then found that it worked sometimes and not others they would rightly expect the problem to be resolved. I am not sure they wouldn't be happy to hear "We'll look at it when we can" but in the meantime just keep on paying.

I have BT infinty at my other address and cant speak of it highly enough but this situation is simply very poor. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

High latency & slow download speeds can also be a symptom of high traffic load, are there any devices running P2P on the network? or is it possible that a device has been compromised or the wifi hijacked? if there is P2P traffic, try and limit the max. sockets to below 300, alternatively, run wireshark or similar on the wifi to check for unknown / unauthorised traffic

No there is not any  P2P stuff on our network, don't have wireshark at the moment but I have checked the HH4 for any unusual connections but nothing other than our laptops.

The issue is more to do with latency not so much speed, our bandwidth is unfortunately limited as we are in rural area (We have fiber to the exchange but not to the cab... yet).

From running a few tests this end we are experiencing a lot of very high latency and dropouts causing packet loss, ultimately giving unreliable broadband. BT have contacted me a few minutes ago and would like to do more tests, I was trying to explain to them that this is not just a bandwidth problem as we will never get a high speed connection until OpenReach role out FTTC. Ultimately high latency, packet loss, and dropouts will cause even the fastest connection to seem slow.

Today's pings results show greatly improved overall latency infact a pretty healthy latency....but still dropouts on this occasion leading to a 9.4% packet loss (with only 64 bytes of data!) this is part of the overall the problem. But it does seem improved just need to find out the cause of these dropouts.
