'FIREFOX BROWSER' | Uploads nothing bigger than 500KB files.

Go to solution

Seasons Greetings.
With the forthcoming 'end of support' for IE9 & CHROME, in MS VISTA, and all that went before; I've changed my browser to 'FIREFOX'.

When sending 'WEBMAIL', I find I can only attach up to 500KB files. I also use 'Flickr' for my pictures, and the same applies, up to 500KB only; no bigger pictures.

I've tried the online search, and obvious fixes, to no avail.

I've tried IE9 & CHROME, and they both take you towards the 25MB, max for 1-email. OK.

It does appear that this is a common 'FIREFOX' occurrence: anybody got a fix ?

Nil illegitimi carborundum.

p.s I've informed 'FIREFOX SUPPORT', waiting a reply.

Do you have any add-ons?

What version of Firefox?

With flickr, there is a dedicated uploader which is better.

Can you point to fourm posts, or other websites that report the same issue.

What antivirus or other security scanning software do you have? Sometimes these interfere with uploads.

Firefox - 43.0.1

Tried:- 1. Disabling add-ons. 2. Safemode. 3. Disabling Security. 4. Private browsing. Tried 'em all singularly and all together.

Flickr dedicated uploader 'stalls'.

Appropriate forums - unanswered.

I came to the forum for a resolution, an answer. Only my question, has generated more questions.

Anyone got a resolution ?

Sorry for the extra questions, but more detail often helps to determine if there is anything that might interfere.

Where were the other forums where users were having similar problems? A link will help.

I've got the same firefox with win10, so I'll give it a try. If the flickr uploader stalls, that implies a local issue that may be tied in with the firefox issue.

If this has always been the case, rather than a recent problem - then a router reboot wouldn't help.

I don't normally use webmail but a quick test with Firefox 43.0.1 on W7 had no problem attaching and sending a 4MB file.

HOLD THE PRESSES !

I've identified the problem : TRUSTEER ENDPOINT PROTECTION.

It's, currently, not compatible with 'FF 43.0.1'.

If you use the package at all. One day it's not compatible with IE, subsequently CHROME, and then FF. It does the round-robin, out-of-sync, loop, a lot: in no regular cadence.

Best Practice: Check the 'Trusteer Supported Platforms Page', on a regular basis:-

https://www.trusteer.com/support/supported-platforms

Alternatively, maybe, don't use the product at all ? It requires far too much vigilance.

Seasons Greetings !

I still can't attach more than 500KB to stuff on 'FIREFOX', while the 'TRUSTEER' browser 'add-on' is active.

WORK AROUND:-

Once you login, turn the 'add-on' off. Attach what you like up to the MAX 25MB.

"DON'T FORGET TO TURN THE ADD-ON BACK ON, FOR OTHER APPLICATIONS."

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

ps. One day they'll all be in sync, hopefully ?

Thanks for the tip.

I had exactly this problem that seemed to start today although my last Firefox update was probably a couple of days ago. Mostly no files would upload although sometimes smaller ones would sneak through - bit only if very small.

I went into the Trusteer control lpanel and shut it down asking that a link to teh control panel be left in the action menu.

The shut down worked bu not icon or link appeared.

I see that the software is owned and operated by IBM these days. So, there we go again.
