Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

Are you having any web browsing/streaming/download problems also?

It's a very strange problem.

Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

Not right now no - last test was 219Mbps down, so the service seems to be recovering again.

But last night I wasn't able to stream anything on YouTube and gaming (Battlefield 4 on the PS4) wouldn't connect to the server.

I called BT just now as I looked up my fault reference following the engineers visit and the status was saying my fault should be cleared. The lady I spoke to made sure the fault reference remained unresolved and checked with her colleagues - they said they are now aware of an issue in the exchange and a specialist team will be working on it on Monday or Tuesday.

So it looks like we could be getting somewhere.

Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

I've also seen some issues. I tried the BT Speed Tester earlier and the download speeds were really low (20Mb/s). Tried the further test and it failed that too (which rules out an ISP problem).

10 mins I tried the speed test again and it was back to normal.

Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

Are you in MK7 too Andy?

Last BTW test I ran gave 250.98Mbps down, 27.09Mbps up but I still can't run the further diagnostics.

I guess we'll just have to wait for Mon/Tue and see what happens.

Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

I'm in Willen (MK15). I'll keep running speed tests randomly today - if they come back below the acceptable threshold, I'll raise them with PlusNet. But I don't want an engineer out.

You need your Broadband Circuit ID because the postcode/number checker is broken for FTTP on the Speed Checker. Not quite sure how you'll get that from BT.

I am assuming you're on Infinity 4 (300/20)?

You can get it from http://windows.mouselike.org/be/index.asp?DoAction=BrasChecker

Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

Yep, I'm on Infinity 4 (300Mb/20Mb) and until the beginning of December, it was as solid as a rock.

I went to the BE site to get the circuit ID and was faced with a rather ominous warning:

Warning
BT have changed their systems, this tool now has to actively submit information to BT to read the BRAS details.
This may cause problems if your internet provider needs to use BT Speed Tester results for diagnostics and fault reporting in the near future. If in doubt, do NOT run this tool.

Running this tool will also prevent you from running the BT Java based speed tester for a few hours.

======

I'm in no desparate hurry to run further diagnostics, so I'll give it a miss for now Smiley Happy

Last BTW speed test was 235Mbps at 1346, though ping was higher than normal at 43.38ms.

Re: FTTP Problems - 0.86Mbps down

What are your speeds like with this test http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html ?

Can you post the results image (should be a link at the bottom)?

I also ran another BTW speedtest and got:
