Re: FTTP available To one side of the road but not the other?

Thanks.

You must be close to the exchange, as you can get up to 19.5Mbs in your new build, which is more than adequate for most people.

Its possible that the FTTP infrastructure has not been extended to your side of the road yet, perhaps Openreach have not received enough orders to make it worthwhile?

I would just place an order for phone and ADSL broadband. If FTTP does become available afterwards, you can just upgrade.

Re: FTTP available To one side of the road but not the other?

Thanks for your help today, it's very much appriciated.

My concern with standard ADSL was the guarenteed speed BT were quoting of 6mbps which would not be very appealing.

But this gives a little more confidence that it may be quite a bit better.

The weird thing is the pole with the fibre manifold on is actually on the side of the road the new properties are on.

Like you say, it's probibly just a case they haven't got round to making it available yet due to the age of the new properties.

Re: FTTP available To one side of the road but not the other?

The figure of 6Mbs, was for ADSL Max, why they quoted that, I do not know. Perhaps ADSL2+ has only just become available?

Openreach need firm orders from Service Providers before they will do anything. As there only a few providers offering FTTP,  it may take a while.

Re: FTTP available To one side of the road but not the other?

That FTTP could've been there before these new builds were built.

The new builds will be fed from an underground distribution point and that ducting for it may not interconnect with the ducting where the Fibre Splitter Node is.
