FTTP gaming latency/ping issues

Hi all 

got BT FTTP 150 installed recently. 
speedtest and BT speed checker show >100mbps - so that’s fine. 
Gaming is an issue though. Various games show packet loss indicators. Online gaming is not really playable any more. No issues previously with plusnet 50mb broadband. 
I wonder if someone could help?

Sort of wish I hadn’t left plusnet now.

ive looked at other forum posts and seen comments about “ stable “ options. I’d forego a little speed to get rid of the packet loss  

on PingPlotter my packet loss seems to be at 31.55.185.181 with 96% lost  

id be grateful for any assistance.

Forum wouldn’t let me upload any larger file size. 
hop 3 is the issue. 
I believe that things are fixed now though. last night I removed power line adapters from my network and although hop 3 still shows 76% packet loss; a test just there shows (final) hop 8 to bbc.co.uk

 

operates between 20 and 30ms. That, I can definitely live with!

weird that hop 3 is still a mess, but if the end result is still low ping, that’s ok, right??

I am sure, looking through the forums, Powerline Adaptors are known to cause speed issues/bottlenecks.

Maybe worth having a look over the forms for Poweline adaptor posts to have a look.

How are you currently connecting from the Router to the PC in question?

Hi. 
connection is via WiFi. 
Im aware that Ethernet would be much more stable, but not a long term solution to have cables running all over the house.

Thought I’d post the solution which worked for me. 
I removed the 3rd party power line adapters that I had already in place. I disabled uPNP on my router - I’ll test enabling that again in due course. 

using WiFi I was getting the packet loss and ping spikes detailed in this post. 

I am now using the Wifi extended disc from BT like a power wall adapter. 

it’s plugged into the wall in my kids playroom. The disc is connected to a cheap 4 port switch via the Ethernet  on the back of the disc .  
the switch is then connected via Ethernet to a PS4 , a pc and the sky q mini box. 

no packet loss indicator on COD on PS4 ! 🙂 no rubber banding or stuttering! It’s like night and day 🙂

On PC , ping in the 20’s for fortnite. 
On PS4 , ping in the 20’s for forntite. 0% packet loss!  (Screen shot)
