Facebook not responding on BB but is with VPN

Hi,

   Noticed that my FB app was not giving me any new posts.  Tried web page and had 404 error.  Odd as my phone on mobile data worked.  I have 51mb speed reported and various other sites are fine.  I fired up a vpn and low and behold Facebook was working perfectly.

    It seems that Facebook is failing somewhere in BTs network.  Yet BT says BB working fine.  Any attempt to log a fault with BB gets nowhere as I’m reporting a good speed.  But this is obviously at the heart of the BT network.

  Any idea how I can report this and run an effective test.

Facebook working for me so more likely something particular to you causing the problem

Go to MYBT and check parental controls are not active  also check web protect has not been activated

If you are using a browser to access it two things to try, clear your browser's history and cookies and if that doesn't work try a different browser to see if it is a browser related problem.

Used Private mode - which effectively does the same thing. It works in App and Browser only if VPN is active.

BT’s network is huge.  So could easily affect my locality and not yours.  Seems messenger and WhatsApp also affected (both FB apps).  

I’ve  shut down BT Web Protect and Parental Controls was already off.  No difference.

It appears that Facebook is down for a lot of the UK at the moment, Twitter is awash with posts about it.

Yep, been having the same issue for a few hours now and tested loads. All other websites work only facebook doesn't Only thing that works is by using a VPN or 4g, guessing its a routing or port issue their end?

Thanks.  Someone on Twitter shared down detector.  That shows problems since 4pm.  Not sure why it’s impacting my location.  But happy that it’s a known problem and so someone somewhere will be working on it.

Yes, it is BT that is at fault, can't get on to facebook via anything connected through my BT connection but is fine on my work ipad connected to O2

Please explain how that makes it a BT fault.
