I have stopped using it. Will try again when fixed. I wonder if new customers of BTTV know how unreliable the recording now is? Is it just BT problem or is this happening on all YouView boxes?

If you check on the Youview forum you will find lots of posts concerning failed recordings, so NO, it's not just BTTV

Re: Failed to Record

Bizarrely, had a first failed recording in over a month, last night Tuesday June 12th . Eastenders 7.30 BBC1 SD. In Morpeth, taking Freeview from Pontop Pike transmitter.

I deleted my old scheduled recordings as per another post regarding change of frequency and failed recordings. I re-set then up. So far so good. But it has only been two days lol.

Well the failed recording our box experienced last night was the first in a new series, so that doesn't really fit does it?  We have also had single programmes fail as well.

Re: Failed to Record

I noticed that there was comment about how the Youview box gets data from the Youview servers as well as broadcast epg data.

I am so fed up with missed recordings, can anyone confirm if standard Freeview recorders (such as Panasonic) reliably record programs (even if the schedules change).

If Freeview (panasonic) seems to work OK, then I will ditch the BT Youview box.

Thanks in advance for any experiences of Freeview recorders instead of Youview.

I have an older HUMAX that just uses the Freeview epg and it has not failed to record at all. I also have a LG TV that uses the Freeview Play EPG and I have not had any fail to records on that either.

I've been running a 5yr old Panasonic BluRay Player/Recorder in parallel with my Youview box because of this issue & it hasn't missed anything, whereas the Youview box has. Can't speak about the current boxes but I think anything other than Youview would be fine.

Re: Failed to Record

It does appear it's just the Youview platform. We have a 4 year old Panasonic PVR and that consistently records all programmes with accuracy.

In light of this continued issue has anyone approached BT and sought to have their subscription waved until such time as normal service is resumed? I suspect hitting them in the pocket will focus minds quicker than anything else.

Re: Failed to Record

Yet another failed recording for me, yesterday. 1:15 pm, Channel 5HD, Home and Away, set to series record on the Winter Hill transmitter.

My Freesat box, which I have to use as a backup, had no problem.

Re: Failed to Record

More for me yesterday (13/6).

Home & Away CH5 @ lunchtime - series record - then recorded at 6pm

Neighbours CH5HD @ lunchtime - series record - then recorded at 5:30pm on CH5 (not HD)

Strangers in the Amish Country CH5HD @ 3:15 - set via the EPG

I'm inclined to think that as the first recording failed it blocked the other 2 until my wife turned the box on to do some catch-up around 5pm.

Box is a T2100 on 29.53. Transmitter is Crystal Palace.

My Panasonic running in parallel recorded with no problem as did my T4000 running 26.41.

If this isn't resolved soon I can see many BT TV users dumping these Youview boxes for something more liable & that won't be good for BT's plans.
