Hi, further quick update - as @gavinlambourne mentioned we've made positive progress over the weekend and are (cautiously) optimistic that we've got the root cause of the failure. We have debug builds running on multiple test boxes to make sure that the proposed fix works, and doesn't fail any regression testing against other features and functions in the box. We will be concentrating on that for the remainder of this week, but will be discussing roll out options when we're confident that nothing else breaks with this fix.
thanks for the continued patience, it is appreciated
David
I hope these fixes work, we're around 2 months and counting now, since the first post reporting record fails.
Which I deem to be reasonably unacceptable in terms of any precieved promise of performance from BT/You View.
Are any refunds going to be offered to BT YouView customers? We are paying for something we are not getting.
@normanivison oh how I laughed when I read your post - refunds. I think you've more chance of seeing pigs fly.
More fails on Friday:
This Morning ITV 09:30 series link
Jayne MacDonald C4 21:00 series link
Dale Winton C5 22:00 series link
None of these failed last week.
Most of my 'fails' occur on Fridays and Saturdays .....
well everything is failing to record now and im getting super annoyed as I dont have time to watch tv until the kids are in bed, and everything is failing. Not everything is available on demand, and im also finding it a pain to remember where i've watched upto. Hurry up and fix!
Back from holiday, I've found a mix of results, some recordings worked fine, on both freeview and internet channels, others failed completely, or partly on both platforms.
specifically, Code Black (W) recorded on 12th, but failed on the 19th; the Corrie omnibus (ITV2) failed on the 16th but recorded fine on the 23rd. Wynonna Earp (Spike) recorded on the 16th but on the 23rd recorded half the episode on spike and the other half on spike+1. Lethal Weapon (ITV+1) failed on the 15th. Supernatural (E4) failed on the 20th. Booth (Pick) recorded on the 13th but failed on the 20th. The Magicians (5star) failed on the 21st and the 14th. Quantico (Alibi) recorded on the 15th but failed on the 22nd. Plus a few programmes recorded between 2 & 3 hours extra time. All the recordings were series linked and set from the EPG.
I set the same recordings on my other, non youview, dvr - it had no failures and all the recordings were the correct time.
I think that if you go into MyTV on your phone at any time after the box comes out of it's overnight standby that that maybe all the trigger it needs for that days recording.
Can't be too sure about this but I noticed it wasn't recording (Home&Away at lunchtime ) but by accessing the box with the phone app kick started it.
