There is information posted by Youview on their community this morning about the problem -

Hi everyone, we very much understand the frustation expressed here on both how long this issue has been around and how even though we have a fix it's not yet rolling out to people who would benefit from it. A number of really good suggestions have been made around how we do that better in the future which we'll definitely be looking at.
You may have seen the post that YouView put out here with some background to the issue - this is the work we've been engaged in to understand why it arose and how we make sure future changes don't have the same impact. Basically changes in DTT data processing can create a deadlock in the set top scheduler which means the internal timers the box uses to receive the broadcast info don't trigger so the recording doesn't begin when it should, and also explains why a manual channel change during the programme suddenly starts recording. This code is buried deep within the Humax layer of the firmware and took a lot of engineering effort to both identify and fix which is why it's taken this long. We'll be reviewing how we can speed that up in future both in terms of scale and scope of investigation and testing fixes as part of the post incident review.
Finally, it's worth noting that a factory reset will *not* resolve the problem, please don't do that unless you have a definite reason to do so.
I'll keep you posted,
regards
David
Thanks for that David (and to Sarah at the YV forum)
It's a lot easier to accept an issue if you know why it's happening not least because it gives confidence a real fix will be rolled out.

Ah! but tell me this - do you think either Sky or Virgin would have let a fault such as this roll on for four months and counting?

No but I still think those two posts (one here and one there) deserved positive feedback
@Stevek1311 - fine words butter no parsnips.
Hallelujah! it's Friday the 13th and guess what? yep! that's right, two more failed recordings this morning - C4 Frasier, for the umpteenth time.
This is without a shadow of a doubt the worst PVR experience I have ever had and by a good margin. Youview should hang their collective heads in shame. There hasn't been anywhere near enough resources put into solving this debacle.
Only just noticed, but it's a good job we watched the Semi Final LIVE, as the recording of the England match FAILED!!
That's our first fail for weeks, but it could have been an epic one!!!
Our by you view box regularly fails to record on a range of channels. It is particularly frustrating when you have been away and find that some series recordings have recorded but others have failed.
