Re: Fed up with speed issues

In order to rule out the Homehub as potentially being the device responsible for your speed loss, you can connect the Openreach modem directly to the PC and see if the speed improves.

To do that follow these steps:

Step 1: Remove the homehub from the modem cable

Step2: Connect your pc/laptop to the modem via the cable instead

Step3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network

Step4: Connect to the internet then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE

Step5: Username bthomehub@btbroadband.com and the password as BT

Step6: connect, If it doesn't, keep pressing try again until it does.

However, please note that this will stop any other access apart from the PC

Re: Fed up with speed issues

Thanks Ray, wil try that. If that is the issue that would explain the dropping speeds but not the sudden drop in my IP line profile speed? Its saying max achievable speed i can get is now around 53mbps., when it was clearly more then that.

Re: Fed up with speed issues

As you know, your IP Profile is within the estimate for your line. However, if it continues to fall it could indicate a line fault

Re: Fed up with speed issues

as you have the modem and hh4 you probably have had infinity for more than a year and in that time more customers have been added to your cabinet and the data from these connection is used to update the estimates and make the estimates more realistic - unfortunately that normally means the estimates are lower now than a year ago

Re: Fed up with speed issues

I suppose it depends on how often you run the dslchecker as estimate may have dropped weeks ago

Re: Fed up with speed issues

Well it stands to reason if I was getting 64 mbps on the test results I posted earlier it has dropped since then.
