Few questions that need to be answered....

Basically, BT have promised me a new router which I should be recieving next week, I have a few questions about the new router...

1. Becuase the openreach modem has 2 lan ports, is it possible for me to connect this new router to the lan 2 port, which is not currently being used, because the lan 1 port is. So basically can I run 2 routers off one modem?

2. If the answer to the first question is 'yes', then because the connection from the modem to the router is that 'red' cable, i believe it is a normal ethernet cable? if so then what type, e.g cat5 or cat6, do i need to use the specific cable that BT supply me with, or can i use my own one, as i will need to place in a good 10m ethernet instead of the short one that BT supply?

thanks in advance 😄

Re: Few questions that need to be answered....

You can only use lan port 1 on the modem, lan port 2 is unused. The red cable is standard ethernet cable and can be replaced with a longer length if you wanted.
