Fibre 100 lost connection

I had Fibre 100 installed 3 days ago.  First 2 days no issues but today anything connected via my Powerlines (all rated at 1000mps) hasn't got a connection. Wifi is fine.  The Powerlines are showing data is 'connected' but that's it.  Any ideas?

Re: Fibre 100 lost connection

Hi @Spom

Thanks for your post and welcome to the BT Community.

Sorry for the connection problems you had with your broadband recently.  Was it just the Powerline Adapters you were having problems with?  Did wired devices connected directly to the Hub work ok?

Drop me a reply to let me know if you're still having any issues.  I'm sure the Community can lend a hand.

Cheers,

Robbie

Re: Fibre 100 lost connection

Thanks Robbie.

Yes I narrowed it down to the adapters, the router is working fine with anything plugged in directly.  I spoke with BT and they are supplying new Powerline adapters, hopefully they will resolve the situation.

I don't suppose you would know why this fault occurred would you, just out of interest.  The adapters are certainly rated fast enough to cope.

Re: Fibre 100 lost connection

Are you sure its the adapters and not your mains wiring?

Re: Fibre 100 lost connection

Absolutely.  Not only is the wiring in my house brand new I can't believe that something suddenly happened to it right after I got Fibre 100 installed, everything was fine before I upgraded.  Thanks for your interest.

Re: Fibre 100 lost connection

Bear in mind that powerline adapters can interfere with broadband which is delivered over copper cable, as they share the same frequency bands.

This can easily be proven by connecting a computer directly to the home hub and run a speed test. Make sure the powerline adapters are disconnected from the mains.

Then repeat the same test with the computer still connected directly to the home hub, but with the powerline adapter connected to another port on the home hub, and a device connected to the other end of the powerline link, and passing some data.

See if it affects the download speed of the computer which is directly connected.

This of course would not apply if you have a direct fibre connection FTTP. BT call this full fibre.

Re: Fibre 100 lost connection

Thanks for this, only one problem, since the changeover connecting to a powerline results in no data transfer

I assume that you can still get a connection on the other ports of the home hub, while the powerline adapters are connected?

Which powerline adapters are you using, as TP Link ones seem to give most problems?
