Please can someone help me? a moderator even?
Does voice over fibre no longer exist or something, as I have wanted it for 12 months???
I have rural landline 5km from exchange with ancient alumium and copper underground connections, leading to poor landline at times, white noise on line after rain etc. Openreach engineers know area very well and regularly visit numerous points a mile or more away in fields where the water settles etc. Lost landline for 72 hrs last summer after rain, 48 hrs a few months before that. That 5km line is not economical for them to do any major repairs with, but thankfully a year ago, fibreoptic superfast fibre arrived at my house directly from the telegraph pole across the road from my house (it also sends fibre down underground to a cabinet serving a few properties alongside my house, but mine goes direct to my house/premises from the top of the pole, and enters my house barely 6 inches from the main socket for the old landline - see photo). Broadband is excellent now (whereas it was a measly 0.5Mb/s on that old landline).
The engineer who fitted fibreoptic line directly into house said it would be simple to put my voice over fibre in future, especially as they are a few inches apart, and I wouldn't have a rain dependent landline any more.
However, I had no joy trying to get this to happen, even if I eventually got to speak to a human being of Openreach in the UK. They may not have the facts correct perhaps eg. perhaps they think I have my fibre from the underground cabinet of my 6 neighbours houses rather than directly into my house?
I attach a photograph - in the year I have waited for the opportunity to put my home phone onto that adjacent fibreoptic cable, has the fibre voice service been withdrawn or something? The engineer who fitted the fibre 12 months ago spoke as if it was so simple to connect those two plastic boxes in my house, but that few inches to attach my home phones to fibre seems like a million mile wide chasm!!
Would a mod be able to explain whether this is actually possible please??
We'd be so grateful. And why leave the second line arriving at my house that leads to so many engineer visits, if it really just needed 6 inches of engineer work?
see photo below for proximity - I can't believe putting voice over fibreoptic cable is extinct now surely?? Can anyone please make it happen for me?
fibre arrives in house beside old landline

Fibre Voice does exist. Have you spoken to the FTTP Team on 0800 587 4787?
today they told me it wasn't being done anymore, as it wasn't worth the expense...… that was why I think they don't realise I have those 2 lines six inches apart?!
I have FTTP technology when I search the website "cabinet 3" but mine comes directly from the pole into my house whilst another goes underground to a cabinet for all my neighbours
A moderator would not be able to help, as they do not deal with FTTP. You might get other suggestions from other forum members.
I suspect the additional cost would be at the network end, not the customer end.
or does anyone know an engineer who can give me the exact name or part number of the socket that could be fitted as pictured halfway down in that link in the post above?
