Finally worked out why I'm being DC'ed - please help!

After months of being randomly DC'ed I have finally worked out the cause. Basically any time my land line receives or makes a call, I get disconnected. The DC lasts only a few seconds and the connection is restored very quickly, but it is enough to ruin attempts at online gaming for me.

I have tried replacing the microfilters, but to no avail. What's next?

Connect to the test socket to eliminate any internal wiring problem.

Testing from "test" socket

That link doesn't work, possibly because I am connected at work right now. Can you elaborate what I need to do? Thanks

There is nothing you can do anyway, until you get home. There are also quite a few other ADSL help pages on that website, as its quite a common problem.

If you post later on, there is usually someone available to help you.

Re: Finally worked out why I'm being DC'ed - please help!

I discovered my Sky box in the other room did not have a microfilter. The thing at the end of its phone cable that I thought was a microfilter was in fact just a splitter. The problem is now fixed after adding a filter there.

Out of interest, if it was the Sky Box that was the cause why was it calls to/from the landline phone (which had a filter and was in a different socket) that was triggering the disconnect. Just curious!

Thanks

The Sky box "splitter" is the cause of many problems, that is why I mention it on my website, and include a diagram showing how it should be connected.
